Health & Glyconutrients

What are Glyconutrients?

“Who Knew Sugar Could Be So Healthy?”

More times than not, these are the first words coming from someone after they’ve heard about Ambrotose products. To think that certain sugars control and influence almost every aspect of our cellular processes seems unrealistic. But in fact, it couldn’t be more real. And modern science is uncovering more evidence to support this fact all the time. These “glyconutrients,” as they’ve come to be known, are simply fundamental sugars the body needs at its most foundational level to maintain optimal wellness.

The 8 Sugars Crucial to the Human Body

More than 200 sugars can be found in nature. Most are absorbed by the body and burned as fuel. But, according to Harper’s Biochemistry, a textbook used in medical schools worldwide, eight specific sugars compose the very chains of glycoproteins in our body.

If these sugars are not supplied in the diet, and your body fails to make them properly, or to make enough of them, the ability of your cells to communicate  may be diminished.

For this reason alone, increasing numbers of medical professionals are now recommending supplementation of these valuable glyconutrients!

Researchers at Mannatech pioneered the science behind glyconutrients, blending plant-derived carbohydrates into a formula designed to support cellular communication and a well-functioning immune system.

In 1996, the company launched classic Ambrotose® complex, a supplement that specifically isolates the glyconutrient mannose, which is best known as the beneficial ingredient in aloe plants.

Our bodies use various combinations of the eight sugars listed above to create a cellular communication “alphabet,” which, when complete, allows the cells to function optimally. However, even one missing shape can lead to miscommunication!

WHEN YOUR CELLS TALK, YOUR BODY LISTENS!

Unfortunately, the typical modern diet contains mostly two of these necessary eight sugars. But because these sugars are so critically important to your body, it has a backup system designed to manufacture them in emergencies. The problem is that because we are becoming so heavily dependent on our emergency backup system, it is growing increasingly taxing and stressful for our bodies to meet the cells’ demands!

If these sugars are not supplied in the diet, and your body fails to make them properly, or to make enough of them, the ability of your cells to communicate may be diminished.
